March Currently

Ugh!  Where did February go?  I spent the last week protesting the arrival of March (because, really, what happened to February?!) by pretending it wasn't here.  It didn't work out so well, so I guess I'll finally post my March Currently with Farley from Oh' Boy 4th Grade.

I can accomplish so much more when the T.V. isn't distracting me, and I have way too much that I need to accomplish, so Spotify it is.  I L.O.V.E. the warm weather that we've had lately, because recess and duty is so much more enjoyable when you aren't shivering.  But... warm weather brings with it energetic...squirrely...hyper kids, so I can't help but think that Spring Break can't come soon enough.  Two more weeks!  I want a second weekend to prepare for this week.  I only have my evaluation observation, lesson plans, newsletters, copies, and centers to prepare.  And finally, the mystery answers- What are things that gross you out for $1000, please.

December Currently

Hello, blog world!  Long time no see!  What better way to jump back into the swing of things than by linking up with Farley and a new Currently, so here I go!

It's been awhile...let's see if I still remember how this ol' thang works. 

I'm listening to Sunday Night Football, my dog snoring (this is not a new thing), and an excited 5 year-old talking about Christmas from his bed.  I'm loving my newest teacher-y Christmas décor that we picked up over the summer while visiting Bronner's Christmas Store in Frankenmuth, MI.

Of course, I'm wanting Winter Break to be here quickly...but not before I finish decorating my tree and putting up the rest of my decorations.  It helps that we only have three short weeks left, and that I will get to partake in my favorite Holiday tradition, which is baking with my Mama!  Most recently, we've up the Pioneer Woman's rolls...like pumpkin cinnamon rolls, and lemon blueberry rolls, and caramel apple rolls.  But we will bust out with the cookie baking soon enough!

October Currently!

It's October already?!  Where did September go?  Either way, I'm linking up with Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade for the latest installment of the always interesting 'Currently'.

 I'm listening to Property Brothers...like always.  I love them, and pretty much everything on HGTV.  It's mindless entertainment, and I'm all about it.

 

I've LOVING my 3rd grade team.  Not only do we get a lot accomplished, but they get me.  Not in a corny, soul-sister, type of way, but more of a no-judgment-when-I'm-hangry kind of way, and a listen-to-my-crazy-math-ideas way, and most importantly, a want-to-do-what's-good-for-kids way.  Obviously, these chicks rock.

 

I'm currently thinking about Baltimore in 2 weeks, where I will be attending and presenting at NCTM.  It's like Math Christmas, and I love it.

 

Here in southern NM, we've had a bit of a crazy monsoon season.  With that came mosquitos who are hungry for my blood.  I'm in serious need of cooler weather...or better bug spray.   

 

Like most teachers, I could use a few more hours in my day.  More time with my students, more time with my family, and more time sleeping.  Can someone do something about that, please?!

 

And finally, when it comes to Trick-or-Treat, I'll pick treat almost every time.  Especially if it's an Almond Joy.  Or a Reese's.  Or a Snickers.  But NOT those gross orange and black wrapped candy things.  Yuck.

August Currently!

August?!  Seriously?!  The same August that signals back-to-school?  The August that means end of summer?  I'm not ready for this!  But I guess I'll put my big girl pants on to link up with Farley at Oh' Boy 4th Grade for this months' Currently!



 

Listening:  I feel like this one signifies the fast-track in which I am turning into my Mother.  A ball bouncing in the house now drives me absolutely insane (Hi, Mom!), and I find myself saying the exact same things she told us!  I'm also listening to my youngest crunch his morning cereal, which is a colorful mix of Frosted Mini-Wheats and Lucky Charms.  Yuck.  Finally, the Today Show has taught me how to avoid an awkward hug.  Helpful!

 

Loving:  Yesterday, after a productive 4 hours, I can say that my classroom is done-enough that I won't have to return until our first report day, which is Tuesday, August 6th.  I feel like this one can best be summed up with pics.

Thinking:  Today and Tomorrow, I'll be attending MC2 ELL Conference: Achieving in Mathematics for All Students in New Mexico.  There are so many fantastic presenters and topics to choose from, I don't even know where to start! 

 

Wanting:  Just a few more weeks of Summer!  I say this every year, but the Summer flew by, I just want a little more time.

 

Needing:  Coffee.  Enough said.  

 



 B2S Must-Haves:  A new planner to help stay organized, which I already have and LOVE, colorful pens (I <3 Ink Joy and Sharpie Pens), and labels for everything.

July Currently

Woohoo!  Another month, another 'Currently'!  I know it's a bit early, but once again, I've linked up with Farley from Oh' Boy 4th Grade to share my very captivating list of pertinent info!  So here it goes:

 

 

-Does your dog/cat/guinea pig/significant other snore?!  My dog has taken up snoring like it's going out of style.  Seriously, she often snores so loud, she wakes herself up.  Do they make Breathe Right for dogs?  I think I'll google that as soon as I push "Publish".

 

-I LOVE my new planner from Miss Math Dork.  I love it so much, I plan on blogging about it next week, pics and all, so come back to see it in all its' glory. 

 

-We leave for vacation in 9 days, and it couldn't come fast enough!  I'm ready to kick back and relax with my family in the beautiful state of Michigan!

 

-Last Summer, we took on retiling our entire house, but the fancy-schmancy new tile makes our walls look a little shabby.  They need to be painted, and I want them painted, but the magical paint fairy has not paid us a visit yet.  Sigh.

 

-  It's been so hot here, and we (like most of the southwest) are in serious need of rain and cooler weather.  But I guess that's the price you pay 'mild' winters and 'dry heat'!

 

-Finally, my tip is to always spell check and proofread!  I'm sure we all have embarrassingly hilarious stories about spelling slip-ups, and it happens to the best of us, but accidentally omitting letters from words like "britches" and "pennies" can really change the entire conversation!  And we've all seen the importance of commas.

June Currently!

I can hardly believe it's June!  It seems like it was only last week when I was anxiously counting down until the last day of school, and now, we're in full-blown Summer mode!  To celebrate, I've linked up with Farley's Oh' Boy 4th Grade June Currently, woo-hoo!  So here it goes:

Since Summer has begun here, we are having a sleep over tonight, so I have had the pleasure of listening to three boys speak in horrible British accents for the last hour, lucky me!!  They've chatted about a wide variety of topics from swimming to soccer...and it seems like their voices are getting louder and louder!  Ahhh!

Despite the bad accents, I am loving that Summer vacation has already begun.  It won't last long, though, as I start facilitation for Summer Math Academies on Monday.  Lucky for me, I truly enjoy this work and am actually looking forward to it.  That's also the reason I am needing a little motivation to organize my notes and finalize some things.  However, I'm distracted thinking about a summer get away (this place looks awesome!), and by wanting some ice cream (I do have a gift certificate!). 

I think I'll let myself be further distracted by browsing through all the currently posts over on Farley's blog!

April Currently

This is my first "currently"...eeek!  I couldn't resist after reading some of Farley's blogs from "Oh' Boy Fourth Grade".  I particularly liked her "ooze" post :-)  Check it out by clicking below.
